Machine-to-Machine Identity Maturity:
A Model for Securing
Non-Human Actors
The Machine-to-Machine Identity Maturity Model (M2M-IMM) is designed to help organizations assess and enhance the security of their machine-to-machine (M2M) authentication mechanisms. It covers a range of authentication methods, from basic service accounts with shared credentials to more complex technologies like dynamic secrets, API keys, OAuth grants, certificates, as well as emergent frameworks. The model provides a roadmap for organizations to progress toward more secure and efficient M2M authentication practices.
